Baby Croakies

What do you do when you have a baby that pulls out her hearing aids no less than 10 times a day to suck on them?

Hearing Aid Croakies!!

Unfortunately, it didn't work because she figured out how to pull the hearing aids out of the sleeves - so this afternoon I found the clip still attached to her shirt with both hearing aids in her mouth...you win some....you lose some

Hi Lisha!

This reminds me of a gentle "threat" that my mom would use on me, because my glasses slid down my nose (a LOT) when I was a little girl. I was constantly pushing them up or wrinkling my face trying to scrunch them back into place. Mom would "threaten" to staple them onto my nose! Or to "screw a hook" into my nose so that they'd stay put! :) I knew it was teasing, but makes for fun memories at a later age!

Some resources for you that hopefully will help:

http://www.babyhearing.org/hearingamplification/AidChoices/practical.asp (I like the "tone of voice" of this page)

http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/ehdi/cdrom/hearing_loss/hearing_aids_pr.html (A bit overly wordy, but scroll about half-way down for a section on keeping aids in)

http://www.aussiedeafkids.org.au/using-hearing-aids-with-babies-aged-0-6-months.html (Australian source but still informative and positive!)

Keep trying different things... Keep being patient. This exposure to sound & noise at such an early age is sooooo important! You are doing a wonderful job, truly.

Please- feel free to contact me at any time if I can be of any help. :) I mean that. Really.
